Pentobarbital

Pentobarbital is an intermediate barbiturate prescribed as a sleeping aid. It is addictive with rapid tolerance development. Pentobarbital is commonly used to induce comma in patients following head injuries, strokes, etc. Serum levels are commonly utilized to determine and adjust the comma level as needed. Levels are used to establish addiction in toxicological specimens.
